Professor Keolebogile Motaung is a well-established scientist with international recognition in her field of stem cells, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Based on her own scientific exploration into the use of medicinal plants in tissue engineering of bone and cartilage, she developed a natural anti-inflammatory ointment named La-Africa Soother (LAS) from medicinal plants which helps relieve muscle and joint aches, thus offering athletes, sportsmen and women an alternative natural anti-inflammatory ointment has opened doors for her. She is passionate about capacity building, and has successfully supervised postgraduate students, and continues mentoring emerging researchers. As a Professor, research scientist and entrepreneur, she trains her postgraduate students not just on how to do research, and become a scientist, but also on how-to become entrepreneurs. By becoming entrepreneurs, they can create jobs for themselves after completing their studies at a time, when jobs are scarce, and unemployment is high. Professor Keolebogile Motaung is receiving accolades from far and wide because she has thrown the gauntlet in bridging the gap between science innovation, entrepreneurship, and commercialisation.

Experts in medical research and product development
Through rigorous research and development, we strive to stay at the forefront of medical breakthroughs, ensuring that our customers have access to the latest advancements in the field of musculoskeletal health. Scientific research convinced me that medicinal plants could be used to engineer and regenerate bone tissue and cartilage. During my research I worked very closely with Dr. Johannah Mpilu, a traditional healer, and two doctoral students, who have since qualified, Dr. Makwese Maepa and Dr. Mapula Razwinani, and together we set up the company and developed our natural anti-inflammatory ointment, La-Africa Soother.
